Lovely old pub from Samuel Smith. Good vibes, good people. Perfect place for an after work pint(or four). The fireplace is amazing to stand next to on a cold day.

Nice food and drinks with friendly service. Quite expensive (paid £4.60 for a pint of coke) but I have no complaints other than that.

❤️ The Cittie of Yorke is a Sam Smiths pub that is just a stones throw from Chancery Lane tube. This was my final stop after a pub crawl down the Grays Inn Road and what nice place to end a day on the sauce. There is a sign on the front that states that this site first had a pub on in in 1430 but the current pub was rebuilt in 1920. This is a stunning looking boozer which looks a lot older than it is. As you walk inside the place just oozes character with huge vaulted ceilings, massive oak barrels over the bar and some elegant booths to sit in and enjoy a drink or a bite to eat. The clientele was mixed from tourists to city workers and the atmosphere is very different as your surroundings are more a kin to a castle or a cathedral. I’m not a fan of the beer choices here but at £3.80 a pint in central London is good value. This pub appears in plenty of top ten pubs to visit in London and deservingly so as it’s unique, atmospheric and a joy to have a pint in.

My partner and I came here for a bite to eat and although the food was very nice, I felt that it was expensive for what we had. I had the toasted sausage sandwich with fries, and there was hardly any caramelised onion on it, which I found disappointing. Also, I found the lady behind the bar a bit ignorant and dismissive. The pub itself is gorgeous with very olde worlde décor. Overall, it was a nice experience but definitely room for improvement in certain areas.

I've had this place down for great beers but awful food for a while, but haven't eaten there for years so it may have improved. Otherwise, and ignoring the food, this place is great for olde worlde pub booth banter, the crazy health and safety fire heater hazard in the winter, and basically no women.

I don’t feel this is a safe place to go for minority ethnics sadly.
Rudest people with the rudest bartender I have ever encountered. Completely speechless and feel like we were bullied.😞
